I am a little biased towards Sony, but this reciever is awesome. I beleive the new model 1080 is coming out late2002 which will be slightly cheaper and much better featured with DLPII & dts 6.1 ES discrete decoding.
The sound of unit is extremely powerful, fills my room and more. I love the crispness of it and the sound steering around the room is faultless.
Even a few Sony haters in the industry have given this unit high marks during reviews.
