Greetings all:

After doing much research and lurking, I have decided on a new/old receiver for my setup.  I am currently renning an old str-de835 I bought new, and the 3 kids since then have put me on a pretty tight budget.  Thats how I got the bright idea to just upgrade in quality and not age so much.  I am currently running a cerwin vega 5.1 setup with 8" Satellite speakers throughout and a 15" floor firing sub.  And honestly i have not ever been real happy with the sound.  the 8"s are E208's x4 hts-15 Sub, and center is an ed6c.  Any advise on where to find this amp other than ebay would be great.

Many thanks!

Michael

Hello Michael,

Greetings and welcome. Glad to see you decided to jump in!

You could also keep an eye for a DA5ES over at Audiogon. I did check and there is not one listed there right now. Also try posting in the Amp, Receiver, Speaker section of the forum here and let it be known that you are looking for a 5ES. I purchased the same receiver from a fellow forum member awhile back. You might also consider a STR-DA4/7ES. Either would be powerful enough for your system.

If I hear of one for sale I will post back to this thread.

Best of luck in your search for this fantastic receiver.

Joe,

Thank you for the input.  I had found a 5es on ebay and it had ended.  I emailed the guy and he re-posted it for me with a buy-it now Sunday night.  By the time I checked ebay he had posted it and it sold for a great price.  Upsetting I negotiated the price and shipping and someone else got to collect.  Oh well.  I've tried craigslist, ebay, and audiogon, but all for naught.  If you guys hear anything let me know!  Thank you!

Michael,

Your eBay experience really sucks. Hopefully your post in the AMP, RECEIVER, SPEAKER section will prove fruitful. If I find a source on a 5ES you will know right away.

Michael,

I did read about your fantastic find in the Amp, Receiver section of the forum.

Congratulations on finding a mint looking DA5ES.  I wish you many years of trouble free service from your new toy.
