Maxx,

Originally, I really liked this one for a telephoto, but it's a bit more expensive at $650. I will probably go with it later.

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SAL-500F80-Reflex-Telephoto-Digital/dp/B000GFZGCG/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1229380859&sr=8-1

I think that I will order the SAL-75300 for now, and look at my macro and telephoto options later. I am in no big hurry.

Thanks,

Toli

Maxx,

What if I order the SAL-7530 for now:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-75-300mm-f-4-5-5-6-Lens-Alpha-DSLR-SAL-75300-NEW_W0QQitemZ120348316637QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCamera_Lenses?hash=item120348316637&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A6%7C294%3A50

and then a converter lens like this:

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=11039913

or maybe this one as the former doesn't seem to be available in black:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sigma-2X-EX-DG-APO-Teleconverter-Lens-for-Sony-Alpha_W0QQitemZ360115537558QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCamera_Lenses?hash=item360115537558&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234%7C66%3A1%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A2%7C294%3A25

Would it essentially give me the telephoto capabilities I was looking at with the lesser lens (I am thinking it would)? If so, I am going to order the SAL-7530 now.

Toli- Before you drop $400 on a 2X Teleconverter you might first see how you like shooting with the SAL 73500 which has a zoom range of 112.5mm to 450mm and then determine how much you could make use of doubling that capability because at 450mm it is a challenge just to keep the subject in the frame even using Super Steady Shot without the use of a tripod.

Maxx,

Good advice. I did want to see how things worked out first with the 75-300, but I wanted to be sure that my thinking was correct if it did.

Thanks,

Toli

I just placed an order with Amazon for a camera case, I definately need one. I came across a package and here it is:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RMSN82

A Look Inside

 • A - Total Coverage Top
 • B - Smooth nylon accessory pocket
 • C - Padded BioCurve shoulder strap with Strap Accessory System attachment slots
 • D - Modular Accessory System attachment slots
 • E - Adjustable, foam-padded dividers
 • F - Main compartment features Dual-Foam Technology
 • G - Easy-Squeeze buckle
 • H - Full-length, zippered Speed Pocket secures small accessories

(Camera and accessories shown for illustration purposes only. They are not included and must be purchased separately.)

Product Description
The Explorer 2 is ideal for carrying most digital or film SLRs (like Canon's 20D) with a grip and zoom lens attached, several additional lenses, a flash and accessories. The main compartment features Tamrac's Dual Foam Technology for shock protection and a custom fit to equipment. An external front pocket features Tamrac's patented Memory & Battery Management System, which uses red flags to identify which memory cards and batteries are available and which ones are used up. A Speed Pocket on the front flap secures and provides quick access to small accessories. A Total Coverage Top with quick-release buckle and zipper closures provides weather protection. Inside the lid is a smooth nylon pocket for holding lens cleaning paper and an open pocket in the back holds an instruction manual. An adjustable, BioCurve non-slip shoulder strap, and an EasyGrip carrying handle provide convenient carrying options for the Explorer 2.

and this kits also includes a tripod (w/ case) and a lens cleaning kit. It may not have been the greatest deal, but I think that the case looks really nice.

Toli,

Great shot of the Winthrop Harbor burm. It displays the Fall Season perfectly. I would love to see the contrast between the Seasons and what it looks like in Summer while in full bloom.

I can see that the snow is much deeper now than it was in your last photo. I hope this isn't going to delay the delivery of your wonderful new Sony SAL-75300 f/4.5-5.6 Telephoto Zoom Lens which I'm sure you could make great use of over upcoming Christmas holiday.

Hey Maxx,

I just checked the tracking number and it shows the same information as yesterday morning, which is that it left the last stop before my post office. So I think that it will arrive on Monday. I also checked and the case and tripod should arrive at the beginning of next week.
