Ive just started using a

I do not agree with

I do not agree with you claudio. The grain is the fault of the wega, or more specifically the upconversion and deinterlacing of the picture. The fix for this would be the ability to disable the drc cuircuitry, which no one has figured out yet. The drc doesnt just make the errors more pronounced. It ...

There was actually two fixes.

There was actually two fixes. One was the sbrt as you mention. Decreasing the sbrt ( a good setting of about 6 on most 36 inch) will help but this just darkens the entire screen. If you were lucky or convincing enough you could get one of the coils replaced. This has been documented all over the web...

I totally disagree. Outputting a progressive image to the wega has the upconversion done digitally before it hits the tv. When doing it with the line doubler internally you convert from digital to analog to digital to analog again. Im actually using an external line doubler from the tv for all my so...

Oh yeah, the brightness has

Oh yeah, the brightness has definatly been fixed with the xbr450. If you call the 1800 222 sony number they basically dont know anything but are really helpful on finding a sony repair center near you. Most of the these places will have a tech that is aware of the issue and will be able to explain a...

Technically even entering service mode

Technically even entering service mode voids the warranty, so what are you supposed to do! Its true that the ugly picture is initially to blame for a bad incoming signal, the wega amplifies these errors. But unless the signal is pretty much perfect other errors will be added to the image.
