I have been considering getting

I have been considering getting the AVD-C70ES because I thought I could put it on the SU-36XBR45 stand. However, I just discovered that the depth of the shelf is only 16-3/16" while the depth of the AVD-C70ES is 17.9" (ouch)! All that I can think of to do is remove the shelf from its supports and pl...

Virtually ALL conventional amplifiers are

Virtually ALL conventional amplifiers are capable of supplying more power to a 4 ohm load than to than to an 8 ohm load. The reason is quite simple. The biggest limitation is the power supply(s). Power = V squared/R. The lower the R, the higher the power for the same voltage. The Total harmonic Dist...

Tarkan,

My guess is that the 4-ohm switch changes the configuration of the protective circuitry such that it is more appropriate for a 4-ohm load (a 4-ohm load draws twice as much current). It definitely does NOT reduce the power output. The reason that the power delivered to a 4-ohm load c...

Excuse me, but I just received the Summer Supplement 2003 Crutchfield catalog and I don't see a price drop for the AVD-CE70ES. Have you seen a price drop elsewhere?

FYI, my AVD-CE70ES has worked flallessly (knock on wood) since I purchased it as a component of the AVD-LA2500PKG (see my revi...

I stand corrected. I checked

I stand corrected. I checked out the link that you provided and, sure enough, the price HAS dropped.

I wonder how long it will be until my unit blows up! I don't push the power limits that often; however, I have heated the unit up enough that the tiny fan has come on.

If you have sound for

If you have sound for a while and then it stops, chances are that you have a short across the speaker terminals for one or both of the two channels. Before energizing your system again, inspect the speaker wiring carefully to make sure that you don't have a strand or two shorting to the opposite ter...
