Quentin, I can't take you

Quentin,

I can't take you anywhere. Look at the controversy you have created with a single (albeit good) post. Great to run into you on this forum. I am a Sony man myself (KP53HS30 TV and a STR-DE635 receiver but an Apex DVD player). As I mentioned in another forum: "get that subwoofer" you...

need3d, Go with paulaceto's advice. I

need3d,

Go with paulaceto's advice. I own the Avia DVD and it is great for setting up your video and audio. I used it on my KP-53HS30 TV and my AVD-S50ES receiver and it made a huge difference in my home theater. It took me awhile to get used to the somewhat darker picture but the clarity a...

For what it's worth, Frank

For what it's worth, Frank Doris of Sound & Vision magazine suggests using the "warm" settings when using the Avia disc. I used the warm setting on my KP-53HS30 TV and ended up with a spectacular picture.

rip2955, you are correct in

rip2955,

you are correct in assuming that these are DVD's. I opted for the Avia disc and used it to finely tune my Sony 53" rear projection TV and my Sony AVD-S50ES receiver. The video portion will help you correctly set your brightness, contrast, sharpness, color and other video settings. T...

dakota_tech or NiteHawk, I assume that

dakota_tech or NiteHawk,

I assume that the "burn-in" that you are refering to is the black bars at the top and the bottom of the screen or the sides of the screen . I own the Sony KP-53HS30 rear projection TV. I am curious to know how long does it take for the "burn-in" to occur. For instan...

NiteHawk, Thank you for the propmpt

NiteHawk,

Thank you for the propmpt reply. I guess the bottom line for me is to keep on mixing it up between 16:9 and 4:3 like I have been doing and keep my fingers crossed that "burn-in" doesn't occur for a long, long time.

Maxx, After months of reading this

Maxx,

After months of reading this forum and your posts I can now see where your nic "Maxxwire" comes from ($10.00 per foot). I really don't think that the price of the speaker wire is at all extravagant considering your speakers (JBL L-100a Century) I can only imagine how great your system...

For what my 2 cents

For what my 2 cents are worth, about six months ago I purchased the AVD-S50ES which was the only silver componant in my rack. Not being really satisfied with the sound I purchased the STR-DA7ES this week and I am not only thrilled with the sound but I am glad to have the famliar black Sony componant...

Thanks Maxx, AC/DC couldn't have

Thanks Maxx, AC/DC couldn't have said it better! The DA7ES is my fourth Sony receiver and the AVD-S50ES and it's silver plastic look never did fit in with my system in looks or sound. I lived and learned.
