Hi guys. I'm trying to connect a CD player to my receiver with the digital optical cable. I've done so to the md/dat input on the receiver, but keep getting the unlock message, and no sound thereafter. I've checked the connection. And I've tried changing all the inputs on the receiver. Nothing helps. I'm pretty sure the CD player is sending an optical signal since I see the laser coming through on the other end of the cable.

Is optical in selected for the CD imput that you are using? You have to tell the receiver what type of signal to use (digital coax, optical, or analog). You may have already tried this though.
