    Hi,

I'm currently connecting my DAVS550 to a Sony 28DX40 tv using a Svideo to Scart lead. Would i benefit by using the component out sockets on the DAV and is it possible to get a component to Scart lead?

    Thanks

You can definately get Component Video to Scart cables. It would give you an improvement over SVideo.

Since I dont know where you are, I cannot give any advice on where to go or what brand to get.

Hi, Keene electronics (http://www.keene.co.uk/) do one of these....

    For £4.95GBP

Also, do you get sound out of the DAV from the TV? You'll not get one with a lead conversion in this way.

Right is this the sort of thing I need?

    (Hope that worked)

Listed on the Keene page as:

SCART TO 3 BNC RGsB OR COMPONENT 2.0m - £29.99

Sometimes run sound from tv through DAV, use a seperate audio connection into Video 2 sockets on DAV.

Trouble it that lead has BNC connectors, I would imagine you need RCA, give them a call I bet the will make one up it they don't do them already.

I would be really interested how you get on with this, I use a QED SQART lead from a NS930 DVD to RGB scart. The picture is exellent but I wonder if a component lead like you've found can out perform the excellent QED. In theroy I think component cables are a better way to transport information down a cable than scart.

If you can't get RCA terminations, you can get BNC to RCA adaptors for <$5.

Bought a lead from the local Sony shop. However on trying it last night was unable to get a picture. Have tries the settings of output on both 'interlace' and 'selectable' with no joy.

    Anyone got any ideas?

You sure you got component and not RGB ?
otherwise have you tried alternating the 3 cables ? maybe the colours dont match up ?

    not likely but not impossible

    Says on the packet:

    Component Video
    3x RCA to Scart

Am off back to the sony shop later today to see what they say.

Right apparently this doesn't work on the DAV550. The sockets are only there for a component to component connection on a plasma (or such).

Gues I'll have to stick with the s-video, only problem is that it uses the smartlink socket on the tv. Nevermind eh?
