So basically you are saying that the 5100 would be fine if I choose to get it because I am not going above the 1,500 limit?

I'm not suggesting loading the Panamax 5100 up to its limit because your Receiver will still require some headroom to draw transient current peaks.

At the present you are probably now drawing <500 watts of current total even with your Receiver at half volume (full volume minus 3 dB SPL!), you could still add some low current draw front end equipment if you need to but leave the DA 4ES plenty of room to breathe.

My next issue is grounding. I know for a fact that my outlets are not properly grounded because the surge protector I have now doesn't have the ground light on. Will it be pointless for me to get the panamax, because it isn't grounded?

That's a very good question. I beleive that the power runs through a series of MOV's which shut down if the power exceeds 130 volts. I could be wrong, but I don't beleive that the process involves the ground.

I don't know what your living situation is, but if at all possible you might consider getting an electrician to fix that ungrounded situation you have.

Depending on the design, the MOVs are usually placed across the line and from each line to earth ground. If you don't have a real ground in your house, the protector isn't helping as much as it could.

Well, I am in an apartment complex so I don't really think there is anything I can do about it . I guess when the buildings were built they didn't need to have the 3rd ground wire.

I have several pieces of equipment without grounded plugs that derive GREAT benefits from from line conditioning.

Well, it actually works out, because a bill that I thought I was going have to pay has been taken off my list (apparently I paid it a month early . So it looks like I will be getting a line-conditioner .

Which model line conditioner did you finally decide on?

It's still a toss-up between the Panamax 4300 and 5100. Most likely the 4300. I can't believe how expensive the Monster conditioners are.

Acutally, I just found the Monster Power HTS2500 for a reasonable price. I still don't know if it is better than the panamax 4300. The panamax has a higher joule rating. Also, it doesn't say that the Monster Power unit has the low/high current protection that the panamax has. Living in an apartment I worry about brown-outs. I like the size of the Monster Power unit though.

I once compared my Monster HTS 2000 to a Panamax 1000 using an Audio Prism line sniffer which detects RFI and EMI on the AC line. The Monster did nothing as far as removing artifacts from the AC line.

The Panamax on the other hand did such a good job of conditioning that the Line Sniffer had to be set to ultra sensitive to detect even the absolute smallest amount of RFI or EMI on the line.

This is just my experience with these two companies products.

I also tested a Chang Lightspeed and an Audio Prism line conditioner that didn't do as well as the Panamax.

Well, it looks like I will be getting 2 panamax 4300. I figure that I will be adding a second amp to my system at some point, and maybe a second subwoofer, so I don't want to get the 5100 because I may start to draw too much power. If I get two, I want them to match, so I will get both now, even if I only use one at this point.
