Is there a way to configure my system, so that when I turn on my STR-DA4ES receiver it automatically turns on the television, or vice versa, (TV turns on the STR-DA4ES). I have a 40XBR700 TV.

You will need a remote trigger to do this. I don't know much about it and what to steer you to but I know it can be done and I thinnk you can do a google search for remote trigger or 12v trigger. also try searches for amps and receivers as this is what they are mostly used for (turning on external amps with the power button of the receiver).

Whatever you do, don't plug the TV into the switched outlet on the rear of the receiver (if it has one). This outlet is not designed to handle much power.
