I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried improving the feature set on their Wega by changing the Model Variation ID bit in Service Mode.
For example, according to the Service Manual, it looks like changing ID6's value from 0 to 6 changes its ID from an FS100 to an FS200. I wonder if this would give me the FS200 feature set...such as PIP, for example.
They both use the BA-6D chassis, but I don't know if this would work or not.

Probably won't work because the other model probably has additional hardware to perform these functions. The software I assume is all the same so it may look like you have the added features when they display on the screen but it may not work if the other model has different hardware (different chip, card, etc.)

There was someone that was going to try changing the ID setting for an HS500 to try to get some added features only found in the XBR sets but I have yet to hear if it worked or not.
