I have a KP-46WT500. In my research on how best to calibrate the TV, I have come across the suggestion to turn off the scanning velocity modulation (SVM). I believe the Avia disc also suggests this.
In looking through the service manual I cannot find any referance to this. Does Sony call it by another name? Is it worth worring about?

By setting your pic to Pro mod, you turn off SVM. this i'm positive off. I have the same set. If you want to turn it off for other pic modes, you can do that by accessing the SM. 2150P-3 UVML= in pro it is 0 which is off and in movie it is set to 1. Standard=2 and vivid=3

Thanks for the information. One other question, should I set this to 0 in all modes? Will it improve the picture?
Thanks again.

There are differing opinions on this one. Most say to turn it off. I find that the lowest setting looks best for me. Why not try the adjustment that is part of the on-screen menu and see which setting you like.

just use Pro mode as it is already turned off. If you need a little more enhancement, than use Movie.

Hello,
in -FX68 models, you can't switch off Velocity Modulation.
When you want to disable it, you can simply disconnect the plug from connector CM7445 on the VM-board. This is a small rectangular board at the bottom of the deflection coil.
Regards,
Bora.

Hello,
the plug can only be removed from the connector it's plugged in, it's not necessary to cut anything. When you want to reuse VM again, simply put the connector back.
The reference number of the connector is CN7445, not CM7445.
Regards,
Bora.
