My Wegas' remotes work fine with my Scientific Atlanta box. Find the code for the cable box in the TV's owner manual. Press the button "code" on remote; Press the 'function' button for cable/satellite; enter the respective code using the remote's keypad; press enter on keypad. If there are mutiple codes, try each until you find the right one.
I have a Wega purchased just last week; Checked the manual and 'Jerrold, GI and Motorola' all have the following codes: 201 through 208 and 218.
