I have 34xbr800 and Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3100 HD cable box. Signal is fed to the tv through component input 6.
Pressing the WIDE MODE button on the remote controller doesn't change anything while viewing old fashion 4:3 stations,
no full screen mode is available.
When HD signal is available the screen goes to the wide mode automatically.
Am I missing something in my setup ? I was under the impression that toggling this button should enable stretching 4:3 screen to fill 16:9 size. I have also noticed that DRC controls doesn't seem to work while non HD station is viewed.

I will reply to my own question for the benefit of other people having similiar problem.
The answer is : don't use component input for viewing non-HD channels if you want to use screen wide mode or DRC. Use other output from your cable box, plain video output for example to feed signal to video input of your 34XBR800.
You wil be able to use WIDE mode and DRC while viewing non-HD programming from this input.
