Well my old SONY STR DA  80 ES  is acting up again . It will not go into Sound field and intermittently the test of fron right and left speakers yields nothing

Mechanic tried plugging wire in again and right speaker went on for a while now no front speakers. Nor. bspeakers in bedroom

Local fix it guy says I did something wrong. On remote or in setup,

Worth pursuing ? Only thing that looks unusual is in DPC MODE INDEX I GET " input after memory" message

Do u think its worth fixing and could it be miss wired etc
Pm me if interested in more info or in helping either way

    TIA

PETERPNYC- Its sad to hear that your Sony DA80ES Receiver is having problems. I remember seeing it and the DA90ES in a 1998 Crutchfield catalog which had some very revealing pictures of the high quality power supplies  and 3 output transistors per channel that Sony had built these high quality Receivers with.

Whether your DA80ES is worth fixing or not is up to you, but I would say that if the DA80ES performs all of the A/V duties that you require then it may be worthwhile to have it repaired. I own a 1999 Sony DB 930 myself and I had it repaired once and I felt it was worth it because its a great sounding Receiver and it does everything that I need it to do in my Audio System.

PETERPNYC-- Have you decided whether or not to peruse the repair of your classic Sony DA80ES?

Well here isan update. had a technician look at the board and he could tell it was repaired once before. Said it needed a bunch of transistors and would be netween 250-350 to fix it
I made a deal with him for $300 all inclusive and gave him half deposit

Hope it's worth $300 to fix it ,and I get another 5 or more years of service.  He says new ones are cheaply made.

Will post back how it works

As I said I've seen the specs and photos of the Sony STR DA80ES and it is a very well built Receiver with a great power supply!
