KDF-E42A10 TV shuts off and restarts automatically and continuously once turned on. It seems to happen every 2 minutes. Red light for lamp replacement is not flashing so I am thinking it's not the lamp. Any thoughts would be much appreciated

Welcome to Agoraquest! The usual cause of this type behavior is an aged lamp assembly. I would replace the lamp assembly, preferably with a genuine Sony replacement.
