I have a KDL-46V25L1 LCD TV.  When attempting to power up, the power indicator illuminates followed by repeated clicking of a relay (once was normal), then the power indicator goes out and the Standby indicator blinks eight times, pauses and repeats.  No audio / no display.

With all inputs disconnected, there is no change in symptoms.  I have seen definitions of 'eight blinks' as both audio and power problems and am leaning towards a power issue at this point.  I located a service manual for the unit and have started to check voltages at the edge of the G2A board (no D board in this unit).  The lack of voltages may be due to the relay kicking out / off.  I need to throw the meter on during a power up attempt.  There are no obvious signs of a problem (let the magic smoke out).

Are there any suggestions or comments as to why the relay would kick out?  (aside from the obvious safety issue..).  Just haven't completed troubleshooting that yet.

Am I on the right track?

I don't mind troubleshooting down to the component level.  It has been a long time since I had an injury due to a soldering station.

According to the documentation, this unit is similar to model KDL40V2500 and KDL46V2500.

    Thank you.

Welcome to Agoraquest!  For the KDL46V5L1, 8 blinks, pause 8 blinks, etc., the "Monitoring Item" listed is IC5000.  IC5000 is the Video Processor and is located on the BU board.  I am not sure what "Monitoring Item" means.
