I am not one whom usually here seeking help, so this is my first attempt. I have a KDL52-EX700 that has been set to Hotel mode by using the following; Display -> mute -> Volume + -> Power This brings up a screen saying "Hotel Mode Settings in Process" and adds an Hotel section in the settings XMB. The TV can be set to hotel mode which is good as it stops the kids from playing around however i can find no way to deactivate it. The procedure to get back to settings works fine, but there is no deactivation process. Spent the weekend trolling through all the 2010 to 2012 manuals, bulletins etc without luck, other than a reference to "using the 2010 settings" yet i cant find it.
If anyone here is able to advise how to deactivate "Hotel Mode" i would appreciate it

Mr_Mod,
I'm having the same issue as you were having before. Were you ever able to get your TV out of Hotel Mode?

Mr_Mod,
Sorry, I guess that is pertinent information. The model number is: KDL-46HX750
Also, I'm not sure if it matters or not, but it's the Japanese model.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is how to disable Hotel Mode for this model and maybe others;
To disable
Display -> mute -> Vol(-) -> power
to activate
Display -> mute -> Vol(+) -> power
If this does not work there is another method

Mr_Mod,
I just tried the disable method described above, but it didn't work. Does the TV need to be in a specific input mode before doing it, or just in any standby mode?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I also just talked with Sony. They won't give out the code unless you have a contract with them. The TV in question is a week old, belongs to a University, and was put in this mode by a visitor during open campus event. You'd think Sony would be a bit more helpful.

The TV needs to be in the standby mode first of all, with no picture showing at all

Yes, it was in standby mode. I tried it again just in case I was mistaken, but I'm still in hotel mode.

try going into settings, there will be a box listed as hotel usually below the network settings. Go into that and make sure "hotel mode" is off the try again

I can't go into settings. There is no settings menu item on my home screen anymore. The only menu items I have are:
-Media
-Inputs
-TV
-Net Channel
-Sony Entertainment Network
-Applicast

next option is to put the remote into test mode by doing the following;
press the "input select" button, the "5" and "Vol +" simultaneously for about 10 seconds this puts remote into test mode.
now press "display" "<<" "vol-" then power
the "<<" is the rewind button on the remote

Unfortunately that didn't do anything either. Would it help knowing the remotes model number? (RMF-JD011) Or having a picture of what the menu screen looks like? (I looks normal, just in Japanese and missing a few menu options.)

the only option i can think of thats left is to go into service mode;
display 5 vol+ then power and use the 2 buttonn to scroll through till you find factory reset (not sure of name) use 3 or 6 to change to "1" then press 8 mute 0 to change value. now turn off at wall and wait 5 seconds before turning on again.
if that does not work i am lost to advise anythiung else

I've tried getting into the service menu before to do a factory reset, but even that menu doesn't come up.
I suppose since it's only a week old, I'll just recommend that we send the TV back under the warranty and have it replaced.
Thank you for your patience and help.
