Sony DVP-S3000 will not show picture. Have been using it for years without fail. All cables are connected properly. Replaced video cable but still no picture. Recent power outage - could this have fried a component?

Hello genowak,
Greetings and welcome.
It is possible that the power outage resulted in a brown out and damaged your player. Considering that the power was off it was like having the DVP-S300 unplugged and probably wiped out all settings. Try going into the setup menu and confirm all the video settings. Especially look if your player asks what kind of output (componant, HDMI etc.) Let us know if you find something.
Best of luck, Joe

Well, after more troubleshooting, the DVD player has been absolved. I plugged it into another TV and it worked perfectly. I then returned it to the home theater and no video. I played with the video setting on the home theater on a hunch and your comments and realized that it was set to video3. When I returned it to video1 everything was fine. Really, much ado about nothing! Thanks for your help.
