" Do the current high-end and mid-range LCD, LED, or plasma TVs equal the picture quality of Sony's KD-34XBR960 CRT TV? " Size does matter when it comes to enjoying the full impact of Hi-Def. As good as the picture quality where on those XBR's, it's going to be a long haul going up against 50" of any flat panel technology out there today. Click here for the answer.

I had a 30XBR910, and replaced it with a 46EX700 when the power supply died.
To be honest, there's little comparison. Despite the larger size, the EX700 is generally much sharper looking then the 910 ever was. Neither was professionally calibrated, but the EX700 was much closer out of the box than the 910, and has none of the linearity/convergence/geometry issues the 910 had, despite all of the service menu tweaks I could try.
The only area where the 910 is better is in black levels. The EX700 has some noticeable flashlighting/clouding.
