In the New Testament, the penalty for false prophecy is captial punishment. With a zero for two record, this guy is lucky to be living in the 21st century. He's just the warm-up act leading up to December 21, 2012.

So true. Unfortunately he's probably mild compared to some of the whack-jobs that are going to pop up over the next year and a half or so._Mykl

As they say in Las Vegas, "That's a suckers bet" for those who believe the new date. He doesn't frighten me so much as those who are following him. Like I stated earlier, they are going to be lining up left and right for their 15-min of fame until 21Dec12.
I'm surprised no one has challenge him for his birth certificate.

If he shows it to us maybe it'll be from another world and we'll have definitive proof of ETs. BTW as you know gambling is legal here and I'd be willing to book anyone's action on the world ending in 5mos. Anyone want to place a bet?
I've been having some fun with this but you make a great point that I had been considering and was why I actually returned to this post. There's a very serious side to this, when one looks past this guy's prophecies, and that's it's ramifications. Obviously this guy is deluded but unfortunately there are people perhaps many people who will believe and follow. There have been many cases in the past (and I fear that unfortunately there will be more in the future) where followers/believers have ended up losing their lives because of the prophecies of some demented individual. Tragic, so very tragic. And I wholeheartedly agree with you that it's only the beginning as we approach Dec 2012. I'm amazed and dismayed that so many people read into the end of the Mayan calender being the end of the world rather that just simply the end of that calender's cycle. By that logic shouldn't the world end on Dec 31st? Afterall that's when my wall calender ends._mykl

Well Harold Camping now says that we've got one day left. The end is coming tomorrow Friday Oct. 21, 2011. Damn, I haven't got my new speakers yet. Oh well. Hey, maybe I can get some better ones on the other side. Now that would be heavenly._mykl
