CRTs for KP-65WV600 & KP-48V85 |

This is my first time posting on any forum, so I hope I'm doing this correctly. I have a KP-65WV600 (purchased in October 2002) that started to display faint arc lines across the screen back in November 2009. At times, the picture would change to hues of green. I had a Sony technician come out and this is what he wrote on the bill as Services Performed: Adjusted Registry - CRTs, RGB, WA111809. The adjustment was a short-term fix and he told me that next time the tv acted up, the 3 CRTs needed to be replaced at a price of $900 ($200/per CRT + $300 labor). Recently while watching the tv the color turned to green and within a minute I heard a pop noice and the tv turned itself off and the LED light continued to blink continuosly. I unplugged the tv and waited a while before replugging it. I turned the tv on and within a minute the green color filled the screen and it turned itself off. I unplugged the tv and haven't touched it since. I woke up this morning wondering if the Sony KP-48V85 that I have in my bedroom uses the same CRTs as the KP-65WV600. The bedroom tv works fine and I would gladly kick that tv to the curb if it means it's CRTs could be used in the KP-65WV600 that I just love. Can someone please tell me if they use the same CRTs? Thanks

Welcome to Agoraquest! The CRT part numbers are different. If you are considering replacing the CRTs yourself, contact:
Video Display Corporation

Contact Gina Studdard at 800-241-5005 Ext 143 or 770-938-2080. This is old contact information. Video Display Corporation is Sony's source for replacement CRTs. They supply brand new CRTs. However, it is necessary to ship them your old CRTs with the mounting hardware in-place so that they can remove the hardware and properly install it on the new CRTs.
