Since I have gotten my TV (June 2009) I have had intermittent audio dropout on HDMI connections.  I can be watching TV or playing my game normally and all of a sudden it will start going in and out.  After about 2 minutes of that it drops entirely.  Turning off and on the TV as well as changing the channel gets the audio back but it is quite annoying.  I have already applied the ER4.11-E2 firmware update that was supposed to correct this.

I have not talked to sony support yet or replaced my HDMI cables (that is next) but I have the same issue on a Dish Network VIP722 Satellite Receiver, XBox 360, and P-7805u Gateway Laptop when connected via HDMI.

The issue cannot be readily reproduced so any fix is done on a "wait and see" approach method.

Welcome to Agoraquest!  Humm!  That's weird.  Sony lists service bulletin E41937474 - Audio Intermittent, but I received an error message when I tried to bring it up.  It probably refers to the the software update that you installed.

Here is the link to the update that I got but I have yet to try replacing the HDMI cables.  I'll take care of it when I get a chance.

    EDIT:

Here is the link to the HDMI cables that I got currently: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019EHU8G/ref=ox_ya_oh_product

I guess I should of wondered why $60 cables were dropped to $10.

Here are the ones I am getting now: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OC6DCW/ref=ox_ya_oh_product

Cables to go is a well known cable manufacturer.  They tend to make reliable cables for any application in my own personal experience.

Well if the new hdmi cables don't do it then I'll probably end up giving sony a nice little talk. If they can't do anything about it I always have geeksquad to get on it as well.

I received in a set of new HDMI cables today.  I have already noticed the disappearance of the one video issue so over the next week I will be looking for the audio to pop it's head.

EDIT: Well the issue didn't go away with the new cables so I am ringing up Sony tomorrow on this.  I got my first instance of the issue today.

Yes. I just got done with the chat today. They very quickly told me to take it to get repaired. I am wondering if I should take it to one of Sony's authorized repair centers or take it to Best Buy and use my extended warranty.

I did start seeing the odd video skips today while watching one of my recordings on the DVR. Rewinding playback showed that it wasn't in the recording but rather in the TV.
