I'm looking to buy a HD radio and was eyeing XDR-F1HD. Looks like it has got some rave reviews. Any of you here own this unit? Your listening experiences, advice, comparisons, alternative choices? Much appreciated.

My ST-5000FW is wonderful, just thought to tap on the available HD channels too.

    Thanks in advance,
    Sree

For less than $100 you will have the best analog FM receiver that ever existed.
And one of the best AM/FM HD radios to!  Resale value is high.  Just be aware that it is a receiver only and requires a seperate ampliier.

You will be receiving lots of flack about HD radio.  You know, expensive and pre-transistor analog gear is better than digital - LOL - It is unfounded so ignore it!  You know where to find the technical reviews in the other XDR-F1HD thread located under this forum heading.

Sree- Its good to ear from you again! I think that you would be happy with the sound of the Sony XDR-F1HD radio if nothing more than because it would cost a comparatively small fortune to exceed its sound quality with a classic Hi End Analog FM Tuner because they are so highly prized by their owners for their sound quality which with a live broadcast sounds better than uncompressed CD which mere codecs of the original cannot compare on an Audio System as revealing as yours is.

Only those who have actually heard this rare breed of advanced quality of FM Tuner would know it to be true, but take the word of someone who not only has heard this phenomenon but also owns a modified FM Tuner capable of sounding better than CD and just get the Sony XDR-F1HD and skip all of the time and expense it takes to learn the intricacies of Hi End Analog FM reception because there just aren't that many High Quality 8-10 watt privately owned FM stations left in the US as I've heard there are only 5 left outside of Portland although I would be surprised if there wasn't one broadcasting out of Austin.
