Welcome to Agoraquest!  If found the following bulletin that advises that you need to replace the LCD panel.  You cannot remove/replace the light source in the panel.

    Subject

Replacement Balancer Board no longer available for 13 blink error

    Symptoms / Customer Description

    Cause

If there is a 13 blink error, replace the complete LCD panel. Refer to appropriate service manual.

    Solution

The ETC-Inverter MT Boards (Balancer Boards) are no longer available for the 40 and 46 FIX2 models. The repair history of these models indicates that a shutdown with a 13-blink error code is virtually always caused by a backlight lamp requiring replacement of the LCD panel.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have replaced ccfl tubes on laptops so i took the screen apart. What i found is 20 ccfl tubes and guess what--- 1 of them is burned out. So if i am lucky i can find 1 plug it in and be back in business. They are approx 36" long pt#QR30d and they push into clips on each side. Need some patience for this kind of repair but at least i have room to work not like on a laptop. I will repost if i am successful. Beats replacing a 2000 dollar screen. Do you have any tips where to find this tube?

Congratulations. A $20 fix avoids a $2000 replacement. Always good to hear these stories.

Perfect! I have the same model with the same failure. Backlight comes on for a second then shuts off and the LED blinks 13 times. I have also replaced backlights in laptop screens, so I believe I can tackle this one. Do you have a source for the CCFL? I didn't find anything searching for part # QR30d. Do you have the specs?

    jusgrr8,
Did you figure out how to open the clip for the CCFL?
It looks as if part of the clip should pop up and free the
wire, but I am afraid to use too much force.

      thanks,
         Scott

If you mean the metal clips on the ends of the ccfl i just used a pocket screwdriver and slightly twisted it while moving the tube free. If you mean the plastic clips in the center i used an exacto knife and cut the clip a little larger so i could move the tube without forcing or bending it.

There are 20 ccfl tubes in your screen for light. If 1 is bad your set will not turn on. Its a delicate job to repair. The source of the tubes is listed above. ccfl warehouse.

    Thanks,
The plastic/metal clips at the end of each tube look to be a compression fitting.
You lift it up and the two metal contacts separate, you insert the CCFL lead and
then depress it and the metal contacts pinch down again.  I was just afraid of
using too much force.  No need to turn a $20+ fix into a more expensive one.

      thanks again for your method,
         Scott

    Hi jusgrr8,

How to replaced the inverter board? I find it is very difficult to remove the inverter board (KDL-40W3000).  My image is kdl-40v3000  and kdl-40w3000 is pretty much the same. Can you please shed a light on that?

    Thanks in advance,
