Well, I went to turn on my tv the other day after 3 years of faithful service, and nothing. Even after re-plugging it in the light will turn green for a few seconds and blink red 6 times in two series then stay solid. I have read about the thermal fuse, and how it is a "common" problem, but what also concerns me is my lamp also appears to be bad which ive replaced and still 6 blinking lights. Also when pushing the power button I do not hear any ballast clicks it just goes straight to blinking.
I guess my questions are:
1. Does this sound like a common thermal fuse problem? 2. Would the lamp go out at the same time? (White haze on the lens, appears bad) 3. If the thermal fuse is bad, will the ballast not even click, and TV not converge? 4. Any likelihood it sounds like a bigger problem?

Just posting update, after reviewing the Sony Service Bulletin E29102171 last night my tv now works!!
Just to answer a couple of concerns of my own for others to verify bad thermal fuse:
1. No ballast "click" (at lease not with mine) This was a major concern for me because I rarely luck out and get easy repairs (and cheap) Because of the no clicking issue it lead me to believe it was something bigger
2. There will be not convergence (almost make you think the ballast, or b board is bad)
But even after all my concerns, the geniuses at Agoraquest were right!
BTW JEHILL is the man!
Thanks so much, see you next TV failure!

very nice benjaminturner. I'm glad everything worked out. Another TV that has been saved from service repair or worst the dump. Hopefully more people will try to fix this type of repair.

Thanks,
