Hi Forum
Wondering if anyone can help with further informationon my faulty HX720 Hard Disk recorder. I note a few others logging similar woes to mine - Does anyone have real answers for us?
After a few "Dirty Disk" error codes coming up over last few months, my player is now stuck on "Welcome" whenever I turn it on now. Its only other sign of life is the fan starts up 30 secs later.
I have attempted to invoke its diagnostic routine (hold play and open buttons on powerup), but it wont even respond to that. (I have played with the diagnostics before -whilst it was operating OK, so I know what to expect from them...)
Downloaded a service manual, no real clues in there, at least not obvious ones.
Tried changing the HSS Sata cable as suggested in one post here.
Took the hard drive out and tested it in a PC, its recognisable as a 160Gb drive but with an unknown format to Windoz. Suggests to me the drive itself is probably OK.
Where to from here people?

Welcome to Agoraquest! I can't find any information on the HDRHX900, but you are welcome to follow the instructions above to obtain Technical Bulletin 09HV002, even though your model isn't listed.

With some pleasure, I can answer my own post. The tech bulletin I obtained from this site put me on the right track (well worth the few $$ to become a super-user) and I was able to diagnose the faulty component. Another few $$ for a replacement part from my local Sony agent, plus a VERY steady hand with a soldering iron and the job is done ! Hard disk drive player operates again ! Thanks to all concerned.
