A note about Sony service manual links |

Just a note about SM links like:
docs.sony.com/release/SMD/989070311_SM.pdf
Sony has disabled access to these since the last week of July
This kind of link is used when manuals are downloaded via Sony reference library (which claudio can access) and Sony hasn't re-enabled them so far.

That onlys goes up to about 2008.09.
When the links like docs.sony.com/release/SMD/989070311_SM.pdf were working, I could access more recent manuals-but no longer can.

Sony hasn't disabled access to links that begin with "docs.sony.com/release/ESI"
However, I couldn't find a way to get service manuals using docs.sony.com/release/ESI type links.

Lets put that to the test. The part number for the KDL-55XBR8 is 988380302. Substituting 98838030.2 for 99877410.1 we get:

Add once again, we get the 404 error. However, I just checked and the actual KDL-55XBR8 service manual file is 988380302_sm.pdf. Substituting 988380302_sm.pdf for 98838030.2/manual.pdf we get:

And it still doesn't work. The problem is that the old method of downloading a service manual by selecting the "Save Target As..." Windows option is no longer supported. That method showed the path. The only options now available are "Open" and "Save". Neither of these options shows the complete path.

It seems even docs.sony.com links aren't working for me:

I don't get a 404 error with these just a "contacting docs.sony.com" status message in my web browser.
