I have a Sony PVM-2950Q video monitor that is having some issues with raster distortion.

What happens is that the raster becomes distorted with bright images on the screen.  The distortion manifests itself as a horizontal expansion and retraction of portions of the raster.

Reducing the brightness and/or contrast reduces the level of distortion.

Adjusting the contrast at the lowest setting eliminates the distortion, but obviously results in a picture that is too dim.

Of course, my PVM-2530 does not have this problem at all.

    Pictures of the problem:

Picture of what it's supposed to look like (picture taken with monitor contrast set at the minimum; iPhone digital camera compensated the exposure for the contrast setting).

What it looks like at normal contrast:

    Any suggestions?  Thank you.

I am unable to locate the PVM-2950Q service manual.  The moire pattern doesn't appear in your photographs, does it?  Its hard to compare the photos with it.

The distortion is in the shapes.

Specifically, the "windows" on the screen. The sides of the windows on the low contrast are straight and true.

On the normal contrast, the lines appear to "cave in" on the window, for lack of a better term.

Thank you for taking the time to look and reply, though. I appreciate your input.
