I have a Sony rear projection TV model KP-61V80.

Over time the picture had become blurry and distortedto the point it was not enjoyable to watch.

Then to make matters worse we started hearing a popping sound that wouldcause the picture to blink.

I took theback off the TV and saw the flyback transformer was arching across itself.

I replaced the flyback and it fixed most ofthe distorted and blurry screen.

The colors still seem off (a lot of red) and I can't seem toadjust it out.

Also, when I first turn the TV on I get white spots (like snow) and I want to see if Ican get the picture a little sharper.

In researching this it seems I need to replace the convergence ICs(STK392-150) on the G board.

When Iordered them (there are 2 of them) I was told I could use an alternate partSTK394-160.

I ordered them and was aboutto install them when I was informed these ICs arenot compatible.

Does anyone have any info on this???
