I'm having a problem setting up an IR repeater (Xantech 291-KIT).  My STR-DE935 will not respond to it.  I've adjusted the position of the emitter in every position possible with no luck.  I suspect the Sony remote IR signal frequency might be out of the range of the IR repeater, but cannot find the IR signal frequency on Sony's site or in the manual.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

I know the receiver and remote are not the issue.  Both work fine when in direct line of sight.  I know the receiver remote has two way communication and the repeater does not does not, but I use a universal remote that does not have two way, and it works fine in direct line of sight as well.  <o></o>

FYI, Sony DVD changer and my cable box (not Sony) both respond as expected to the ir repeater.<o></o>

Can anyone tell me what frequency the Sony remote operates at to confirm or dismiss this as the problem?  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.<o></o>

Welcome to Agoraquest!  Your IR  repeater should work with your STR-DE935.  Are you sure that you have located the IR reciever on the STR-DE935?  I assume that you stick the emitter in place with double sided tape, right?

I am 99.9% sure I have it in the correct location.  There is an IR symbol with two arrows opposing each other on the clear smoke plastic front and I can see what looks like LED's behind it.  I've used the double sided tape to stick the emitter to the front of the receiver in that area.  I've tried every possible position in that area.  I've even held the emitter by hand and slowly moved it around that general area while pressing a button on the remote.  The emitter has a red LED confirming it is emitting a signal the entire time with no response from the Sony.

I guess that it is possible that the IR frequency range used for Sony remotes has changed since the STRDE935 was introduced in 1999, but I doubt it.  Have attempted to contact Xantech concerning your issue?

Xantech recommended a 282M (higher intensity) emitter.  Can't find one in town and didn't want to drop the $ and wait a week for shipping for nothing if it was a frequency range issue or something else.

I guess I'll order the other emitter and hope it works.

    Thanks for your suggestions jehill.

FYI, I installed a 282M emitter, as recommed by Xantech, and the Sony receiver is responding to the repeater now.  Problem solved.  Thanks again for your help.

I have exactly the same issue with the STRDG-720 (a brand new receiver, albeit low-end).  I am using a Xantech network (see my other post on this) but I believe I am using generic emitters.  I will look into the emitters to see if this is the cause.
