In our Trinitron 36" XBR, the PIP suddenly appeared on the lower right of the screen. Our universal remote did not have a PIP button. I bought a Sony RM-V210 universal remote with a PIP button. I pushed the PIP button and the screen split into two images. I pressed enter and got the 9 images on the screen.
I can't seem to make the PIP disappear.

calman,
If your TV is anything like my KV-32XBR48, you will need an original Sony TV remote or a universal that has a PIP OFF button/function for older model Sony TVs.
Having not easily located a proper remote, I went to the top menu buttons on the TV (again, and just tried some stuff). I chose setup and then the autoprogram function. Detecting all the channels automatically kicked the TV out of PIP and returned me to just one screen.

calman,
That is a great solution, although a little inconvienent. I have a couple extra Sony remotes that have that feature. If you are interested, send me a personal message.
