Vertical Compression With Letterboxed Movies? |

Are there analog sets that do vertical compression with 16:9 movies or is this feature found only on HDTV sets I think "vertical compression" is the correct term whereby the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen are not scanned, just the picture. Do most manufacturers offer this feature?

Yes, rick58,
an example is the Sony KV-27FV300
There's even the less expensive FS100.
They both do the 16:9 v-compression.

Sony and Samsung are the only manufacturers that has the vertical compression features on their analog set. I'm not sure if all Samsung does it, as I had problem getting one to work at a store.
