What colorspace format (RGB, YCbCr, etc...) does the HDMI input of the KD34XBR960 use?

Does the HDMI input support BT601 and BT709 colorspaces?

    Thanks.

Interesting!  I have never heard the term "colorspace format" before, but I can tell you the following after reviewing the KD34XBR960 block diagram:

    1.  The output of the Video7 block is labelled "YCbCr/RGBHV".  I believe that RGBHV means red, green, blue, horizontal, vertical.

    2.  The video outputs of all of the devices that the output is connected to are labelled "YCbCr".

    Does that help?

Thanks for the info.  Sorry about the "colorspace format" verbage.  I guess "video signal type" or "video signal format" would be more appropriate?

So it looks as though the HDMI can output either RGB or YCbCr.  Is this user selectable in the TV setup menus or is it only available in the service menus?

    Thanks.

There is nothing in the Operating Instructions that says anything about a RGB/YCbCr selection.  Perhaps its available for models that accommodate SCART cables.

It's normal for HDMI to work with both RGB and YCbCr. Which is used is down to the protocol exchange between the source and sink. A lot of HDMI functionality is optional. IIRC, which is implemented may depend on which analogue connections are supported. If there is an RGB analogue connection, then HDMI should support that, etc.

    BTW, RGBHV relates
only to VGA type analogue connections, where the horizontal and vertical sync pulses are carried on separate lines.
