Kwonza, how about taking the effort to actually read the entry just before your entries? Maybe then you would see the link to the service manual of the 40XBR800...

Can anyone please tell me the url for the KV-36XBR400 service manual pdf? If anyone has it and could email me the url or the manual that would be great. I've tried changing the numbers to find the correct manual on the Sony site but without a broadband connection it is hopeless. Someone please help me out.

You guys are trying too hard, I was looking for a service manual for a mdx-400 (4 minidisc changer aka quattro), anyway I stumbled upon your quest and pondered it a bit. Though I didn't hack the user/passcode (yet, I've only got an hour into this) I thought it silly to piddle with psuedo-random numbers and knew there had to be a pattern, soooo. I dinked around a bit and made it easier for you (I've not tried the tv's, but I got all the car audio codes I need). Step one: realize that the eight digit pin (plus .1, .2, ...etc.) is sony's part number for the service manual/instruction guide.
step 2: go here www.partsolver.com ,it has every part for nearly every electronic device on earth, and fortunatly, they use the same part number when listing the service manuals
step 3: load a new window beside it and put one of the working strings in, then change the numbers
couple notes:
the ninth # has a . infront of it, example
part number: 995784511
what to type: 9957841.1
not all of the listed part numbers are correct, some are usually a number or two off, but it beats guessing all the way!
when the nuber is off, try replacing the 8th and 9th digits with 1.1, it's hard to explain the pattern but somehow it leads to the main manual usually have fun
