Ok well I have a Sony Vaio PCV-RX860 and I need to upgrade the graphics card to play new video games. So I bought an ATI Radeon X1600 Pro.  It is made for an AGP slot and luckily my PC meets all the requirement. Though I'm not sure about the power supply. I need help since I've never installed Hard Ware. I have some questions.

    1. Do I disable the intregrated Graphics Card before or after I install the ATI Card?

    2. The ATI Box says a 350 Watt Power Supply is required. Can anybody tell me if my PC meets that requirement?

    3. And is there anything important I need to know before installing it?

    Cloud32145,

Greetings and welcome. I would suggest installing yout AGP ATI Radeon video card by first booting up your computer and going into the BIOS and disabling the SIS on board video or by going into Windows Control Panel/Device manager and right clicking on the exsisting video adapter and disabling it there. You can then shut down and unplug the power cord from the computer. Physically install the new ATI card in the AGP slot and boot up.
Windows will pop up a "Found New Hardware" box and will be looking for the driver. You can either cancel and close that box and install the ATI software from the CD that comes with the video card or point the "Found New Hardware" to the CD ROM drive (naturally with the ATI CD inserted) when asked for the location of the driver. You should re-boot after the installation is complete.

Before you go ahead and install the new video card you really should consider upgrading your power supply. Your PCV-RX860 comes with a 300 watt power supply which is under rated for your new ATI Radeon card. I would suggest going with at least a 450 watt power supply.

    Joe
