While watching a regular video, the picture is appears fine, but going into something like text from the Tivo menus, you can see that the green convergence is off by about 2 pixels to the left. This makes the text hard to read. I was able to get a service manual, but there does not appear to be a way (at least through the service menu) to adjust the convergence. Is the only way to adjust this through the alignment screws (which are very inaccessable), or have I missed something?

It would be helpful if you provided the complete model number.

Thanks! I see that the KL-W7000 is a three LCD rear projection set. If there is an Image Shift adjustment in the Setup menu, have you tried it? I doubt that there is, because according to the training manual, convergence is strictly mechanical. There are mechanical (screw) adjustments on the optical assembly for convergence (registration) adjustment. There are theta (angle), X and Y adjustments for each color. The adjustments are sealed with adhesive (Loctite), so a special tool kit is required. The adjustment procedure is on p-37 of the service manual. It sounds like all that you need to do is touch up the green X adjustment. In newer models there are electronic adjustments in addition to the mechanical adjustments and adjustment is normally performed in the factory with the settings stored in and external board, meaning that if there is a problem, the optical assembly, including the external board, needs to be replaced. If you wish, I can send you a copy of the training manual which includes a page on convergence including a color picture that shows you where the adjustments are. Just go to your Inbox at the bottom of the left column and send me (jehill) a private message indicating what you want and including your e-mail address.
