I need help if anyone has time. I've had my components in my basement for almost two years now, and still can't get them hooked up right. I have a Sony KF-60WE610 television, a Sony DVP-NC665P CD/DVD player, a Sony HT-6600DP Home Theater System, and a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD DVR. I've tried to makes heads or tails out of the manuals, but no luck. I've checked the Sony website but my models weren't on the list of their hookup tutorial. I anyone has time to help a novice out, I would greatly appreciate it. Or maybe you could suggest a website to go to for information.
Thanks Don Ellis

The following connections are recommended:
1) HDMI to DVI-D cable from 8300 to TV Video 7 DVI input*. 2) Optical cable from 8300 to 6600 Video 2 optical input. 3) Set of component video cables from 665 to TV Video 5 component video input. 4) Optical cable from 665 to 6600 CD/SACD optical input.
*You can use a set of component video cables from 8300 to TV Video 6 component video input as an alternate.
If you wish to use the TV tuner with the 6600, you need two more connections:
5) Optical cable from TV to 6600 MD/TAPE optical input. 6) Stereo analog cable from TV to 6600 MD/TAPE L and R inputs.
If you wish to use the TV with the 6600 off, you will need one more connection:
7) Stereo analog cable from 8300 to TV Video 7 (or Video 6) L and R inputs.
In this configuration, you must select the video source with the TV INPUT selector and the audio source with the 6600 FUNCTION selector.

dse7339,
CEA (Consumers Electronic Association) has an easy tofollow step by step guide on how to hook up any components that yuo have. Although it's not as detailed as John's explanation it is a good basic guide. If your interested, HERE is the link. Joe
