I would like to upgrade the speakers that came with the DAV-FX10.  The speakers that came with the unit are rated at "2.7ohms", not the usual 4, 6 or 8 ohms rating.  Can I use 8ohms speakers instead?  From experience, I know one can use speakers of a higher impedance than recommended but not lower.  Am I right?

I just want to replace the 5 small speaker, not the subwoofer.

By the way, is the subwoofer an active unit or just a passive speaker?

Welcome to Agoraquest!  You probably will be disappointed with the performance of your DAV-FX10 with 8 ohm speakers, because it is optimized for 3 ohm speakers.  You are not going to want to here this, but your best bet is to replace the entire system with a component system (separate receiver, DVD player and speakers) when you can afford it.

yoyo1972- Simply refering someone to a search engine does not solve their specific problem.

If you have a solution to this particular problem we would like to hear it.
