I just got my HD DirectTv set up -- an the only two settings on the dish box -- for Audio- out -- is Dolby Digital-- and PCM --
My TV will not except The Dolby Digtal-- when watching HD--
If i run PCM -- it works on all channels.
But DD won't work
Why wont the TV except a DD over the HDMI

The TV only accepts a stereo digital input. My guess is that the reason why is that's all that is needed for the TV's internal speakers. Do you have a separate surround system? If so, connect the dish box digital output to the system.

But the Tv has a light pipe Digital out of the Tv i thought it would pass the signal -- it would be so much nicer if the Tv would Do the Dolby 5.1 -- then you could get the better sound - with or with out the Stereo Reicever

Unfortunately, the optical output is for audio derived from the RF inputs to the VHF/UHF and CABLE jacks. You should get Dolby Digital 5.1 via that connection if it is being transmitted for a channel.
