I've been looking through some great threads here and have seen quite a few DVE posts. Is DVE really all that better than the THX Optimizer that comes with some movies? My set is a KDF-60WF655.

The DVE is an entire DVD dedicated to assisting you in setting up your A/V system. It includes a tutorial that guides you through audio and video adjustments and numerous audio test signals and video test patterns.

As John explained, DVE, Avia, S&V Home Theater and the likes go into more detail on HT setup and have more advanced features than the THX Optimizer that is on some DVD's. It would be up to you to decide if those extra features are worth spending the extra money for. I can tell you this, I took the time to compare the THX video settings to my Avia DVD and they came out pretty close. The DVE disk is not all that expensive and if taken care of will last many years. Good luck in your decision.
