    I am not sure what exactly i pressed in the service menu, but the screen is totally messed up and does not allow me to change display modes any longer, if anyone has any idea what to do, please let me know.

    Dude, you have to be more specific or nobody will be able to help you! How is it messed up? What modes? Video modes (480i, 1080i), zoom modes, or picture modes (Vivid, Pro, etc.)? Describe what you see, if you think it might help.

    I cannot change between normal, full, zoom, and wide zoom. apparently the tv's eeprom doesnt even know that it is a 34hs420 any longer.



    It seems that I accidentally hit 7 - 9 - enter and that sent my tv on the fritz altogether. Will acquiring a service manual provide the default values so that I can restore the TV to normal operating functions? If so, can someone please furnish me with one... the prospect of a $1600 TV turning into a doorstop is not comforting at all

    Problem solved, it was ID7 which was offset by 1 value... I'm glad that is solved. Now on to perfecting the quality of my screen.
