I have a PS2 that is just over a year old. It will power up but will not boot. No opening picture or sound. It will not read any disk. Sometimes it will work after resetting several times. I got it to play one DVD today but once I removed it, the unit would not respond again. Any ideas?

This is highly unusual in a unit that's not been chipped, unless it has been subject to perhaps a power failure that has damaged the main motherboard PCB.

I repair PS2 units, but it's a bit far from TX to UK I'm afraid.

The only PS2 units I see like this are ones that someone has badly chipped.

Any hints or clues to what happened as I agree with the last post, it seems that BIOS is not loading up.

Obviously these threads and forums aren't read all that often - by now I guess the original poster has bought a new PS2 or Xbxo 360 lol

    Dear User,
The reason your PS2 will not boot is because it is a LOAD OF SHIT IN A BOX. Consider this, both Microsoft and Sony make games consoles, and they sell at roughly the same price, yet Sony makes a profit and Microsoft does not. Why you ask? Because the price of making a PS2 is almost NIL, mainly due to fact that its just a bunch of stolen ideas patched together into one, big crapstick. Censor my post if you wish, but know this - your censorship of my point of view only confirms that you have no response to my irrefutable evidence, and that you're all blind fanboys trying in vain to dispel your buyers remorse.

I agree with the aptly named undercoversonyhater! You must unite now, to successfully eliminate the Kutaragi War machine! You need more brave souls like undercoversonyhater to stand up, and free your no doubt putty-like minds from his strangle hold on the entertainment market! THIS HAS GONE ON TOO LONG!!! FIND HIM! DESTROY HIM! REMOVE HIS URETHERA AND REPLACE IT WITH A PIRATED COPY OF KINGDOM HEARTS II! SOON I WILL STRIDE THROUGH THE JAWS OF CERBERUS, BEARING HIS HEAD ON A PIKE!!!

    "rb"

The very fact that you choose to continue this debate, rather than cower away like the Sony-Lover you are, is testament to your own immeasurable stupidity.

    rb,

Have you ever popped the head off a dandelion? What happens if you pop the head off a Troll, does it grow back?

Toli- Good question! I think that the answer would depend on whether the Troll had a head in the first place.

Oooooh, resorting to completely irrelevant threats now eh Toli? Big man, Toli, BIG man. As for your 'question', I'm sure you could ask Ken Kuturagi, he seems to know a lot about being a troll. Oh and FYI, there is no such thing as a 'satisfied sony fan', merely a brainwashed one, which I strongly suspect you all are.
