I would love to make it shine, even brighter.
I just got it this morning. I went out, and got the DVP-NS725P.
I have the STR DE885, running the sound, and my GameCube, connected with the components. ....why does my tv, disable the advanced video settings, when my GC is in progressive??.....
I was wondering if theres a laymens' guide, to configuring my WEGA.
Also, if theres a region hack, for my DVD player?
Any special configurations for the player as well..??
I have low/mid end cables, hooking everything up, so I need to work with the hardware, for enhancements.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

drone8888- I agree, I have the same TV and I love it. IMO it is the best TV for the money, but that's my opinion.
Why don't you try a calibration DVD such as Video Essentials, AVIA, or the one I have Sound & Vision-I got it from bestbuy.com for $15.86 including tax, and free shipping. Also, DVDs like Finding Nemo and The Lion King have THX optimizers on them, and work pretty well.
I set all the video & audio enhancements on my DVD player to off, except for the 'DTS' & 'DD' ones. I feel my TV and my audio receiver do a better job with these enhancements than the DVD player.
About your Game cube check if the Video Mode setting on that input, is it set to 'VIVID'?, this setting affects the Video settings. (You can have a different Video Mode setting for each input).
And, if you really want the Multi-region capability, I would order one of those players and take the 725P back. They can be ordered online-I know one store in Illinois that has them for sale on thier website-I'm sure there are others. But, where most DVDs are released in region 1 first, I don't feel that need. But, I do understand that there are DVDs that aren't available in region 1.

Yeah, I buy Japanese stuff all the time.
I wanted to watch my FFXI, soundtrack DVD so bad, that I switched the region, on my PC DVD. It can only be changed 4 times.
At the time, I didn't have any other imports, but now I have enough to warrant a R0 player.
I can't afford my model, as its modded. For they tack on another $100+.
I'll just wait.
It is a really decent player though.
