Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this;
when playing mp3 discs, some titles wont display the "artist" tag. The tags are there (they show on my computer) but they wont display. This only happens with the "artist" tag and only on some titles. I e-mailed sony support about it, but i swear they didnt even read the question! i got a cookie cutter response that didnt address the question at all, so i'm hoping someone here can give me a clue as to why this is happening.

I'm guessing here, but could it possibly be that your D-NE509 only reads id3v1 tags and not id3v2 ones? Possibly your Winamp/WMP/whatever sees these but not the Sony.

That is a very reasonable guess, Tiny. My Sony CDP-CX455 CD changer can play MP3 CD's too, and it is only capable of reading ID3 v1 tags. Some tag-editting software allows you to include both V1 and V3 tags, for backward compatibility with players like this that only read V1 tags.
Thank you Tiny Turtle and AaronB for the feedback.
The problem is solved! .....turns out the tags that wouldnt show were v2.2. I converted them all to v2.3 and they work perfectly! whodathunkit!
