Hi,
I have a HK AVR 325 and a CX-455, originally i had the cd player hooked up to the receiver through the analog outputs and during random play there was no delay, now through the optical output the first few seconds of each track on random is silent then the sound kicks in. I have checked the manual of both and don't know which side of the equation is causing the problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Kain

This is a common complaint with Harman Kardon recievers. The problem is that it takes the reciever a little while to lock onto the data stream incoming from the CD player. Many have also reported problems with DVDs.
I don't believe there is any fix for this issue, other than to use an analog connection.

Some receivers have an option to force the receiver to think that any digital input is a PCM digital input (as opposed to Dolby Digital or dts). This should prevent the delay, but it would also prevent you from playing DVD's, or dts CD's for that matter.

On The HK there are multiple digital inputs, even if i was able to force one of the optical inputs or even both to stay on pcm, then i might still be able to use the coax digital inputs for my DVD, i will have to look into this further.
Thanks for the info guys,
Kain
