    Yeees!!!!

    I've just bought 2 SS-X90ED, 4 SS-X70ED, 1 SS-CNX70ED, 1 SA-WX900, and, for future upgrade I also bought 2 SS-X30ED (you can call me speaker frenzy).

Those were the last X-series they had in store, and they can't order them anymore(that was close)!

I have to wait a month or so for subwoofer to arrive, and then I'm out to collect them.

    Very, very happy and broke

Nice!!  Prepare to be amazed.  You will be blown away by just how good Sony speakers can be.  Nice job on the WX900 sub.  I am using one for LFE and 4 WX700's on my fronts.  While your waiting for the future upgrade try a X30 as a center channel speaker.  I prefer it to the CNX70.

You think your very, very happy now.  In a month from now when they are fired up you will be grinning like a butcher's dog.  Welcome to the club.  Smart move.

Thanks guys - very, very happy!

rb -I saw pictures of your X70ED without drivers and pictures of x-o networks. Very nice! Do you, by chance, have any picture of drivers? I would like very much to see them. I don't want to take apart my new speakers when they arrive.

    Thanks in advance.

    Very, very happy

I'll take a few snaps and try and post them.  The cabinets are a work in progress.

rb -Can you post pictures of the back of the cabinet and also pic of binding posts? (sorry for bothering!)

Have you finished with x-o upgrades? How's WIP going?

If you can't post pictures here, PM them to me and I'll post them here if you want.

    Thanks!

rb -I found one more SS-X70ED in maple colour in Germany.(I don't know how long will that last) Do you think that I should buy it for my center channel instead of CNX70ED. Is the sound worth the expence? Do you have any other advice?

I am VERY thin on money right now! (in debt, but if it's worth, I will gladly buy it and finish with speakers for long, long time)

I am personally so close to buying it while I can.

    Thanks!

I have 6 X70ED's and a 5.1 system.  I have used the X70ED as a center for awhile and it was awesome.  The problem that I had was I had to raise my 57" TV 12" in order for the speaker not to block the screen.  The TV set is 24" deep and it made for a very large box in my relatively small room when it was raised.  The speaker has been in storage since waiting for the right set up.  All identical speakers at every corner in a surround system moves it to the next level. Having a X70ED for a center channel is amazing.  I can't stress it enough.  If you can manage it go for it.

I'll send you some pics, look in your PM soon.  Post them here if you'd like.  They are not much to look at now that they are stripped.  The binding posts look really nice but are not the best.  I've broken 2 tightening spades to them.

I have not started the X-overs.  I'm still at the hand sanding the cabinet stage. I'm leaning towards tri-amping using an electronic tube crossover for the speakers and an solid state electronic X-Over to the  front subs.

    Hi Rb.

Do you, by chance, still have high quality glossy brochures of Sony Speakers including X-series?(I know it's been long time ago!)

If you have I would be very interested to buy them from you. (Maybe in .pdf format?)

    Thanks in advance!

I had a stack of high quality glossey brochures and offered to send one to anyone at Agoraquest that wanted one as long as they covered postage.  No one responded.  They may have been tossed out.  I'll see if I can find one for you.

Rick -I've ordered that fifth X70ED for center channel!

Do you think that I'd be better if I had X70ED all over instead of X90ED for fronts?(I wanted to buy three pairs of X70ED, but only manage to find two, plus pair of X90ED).

Also, do you think that I should buy more subwoofers(you have five!)?

Sorry for all that questions and trouble re X-series.
    Thank you very much!

    Hi Rick.

Back with few more questions -sorry!

You have both X70ED and X30ED -right?
Now, I know that X70ED is better than X30ED, but how much better? X70ED costs 1.5 times more than X30ED -How much better is the sound quality wise?
Maybe, just maybe I can return order for my pair of X30ED and order X70ED instead.
I know that sometimes bookshelf speakers have advantage over floorstanders re space, but I feel that sound with X70ED is MUCH better. Is this true?
Do you have any other advice? I'm glad to hear everything, I mean EVERYTHING (I guess that I went MAD re this speakers).

    Really sorry for bothering! Thanks!

    Danijel

I actually preferred the X70's over the 90's in the room that I heard them in. The 90's should be in a larger room. In Canada the X90 cost double what the X70 sold for so I saw no need to get them. I would be happy that you have been able to secure what you have.

The X30 uses a different mid/bass driver than the X70/90's. When you get your system set up and run the test tone for the first time and hear that it sounds indentical at every speaker you'll look back and know you made the right choice.
