just purchased a sony ta n55es and wondered if anyone knows where I can find a PDF manual.unfortunately it is missing the rosewood side panels but looks to be in mint shape otherwise.Wanting to incorporate it into my second system which Im using a sony da5es with a sony ta n80es connected to the preouts for the main fronts.I also have a sony ta n 220 amp connected to the rears for a 7.1 experiance.I'm wondering if the best fit for this 55es is for the center channel or what any ideas or comments welcome.

Parney- Congratulations on acquiring your Sony TA N55ES power amp with its excellent build quality. You already have such great equipment in your multichannel Audio System that I hope you will be able to find a duty for it to perform that is commensurate with its abilities.

Thanks Maxxwire do you think running the 55es in mono to drive the center channel at I beleive to be somewear around 300watts would come close to my ta n80es 's 270watts driving my mains.Thinking this would give clean sound for movie watching or would it be to overpowering in this situation? This amp kinda fell into my lap and it was from the original owner.Funny thing is he never had it hooked up to any preamp he just used it with a cd player and two speakers so it is very mint not many hours on it.wish I had 5 more like this one .

According to the TA 55ES service manual its mono output is rated at 300 watts with an 8 ohm load so it looks like it has a very good chance of running your center speaker like the TA 80ES is running the main speakers.

Excellent thanks for confirming that ,with no manual I'm guessing I just put the selector switch to mono and hook up the left right preout via rca cables. Then I'm thinking to set selector switch to say ''A'' and hookup my two speaker wires to red and black side ''A'' .wish I had a manual or hopefully someone will let me know on here.

dontsleep- Are you still running your TA N55ES power amp with the CD player connected directly to it with no preamp as you were in the early days?

Thanks for the link manual kinda vauge for mono hookup,I guess if I want to just connect my center channel speaker I just use speaker terminal 'A' and hookup to the red black of one side only and hit the mono switch? Has someone else on here used this amp in mono in their system?

parney- you should be okay if you follow the mono connection instructions that Sony included on the back of the TA N55ES.

Thanks Maxxwire so to hook up one speaker in mono I just put the neg speaker wire to top left hand red terminal in the pic you posted and the pos wire to the far right red terminal.

Yes, when your TA N55ES is set to mono mode with that speaker wiring configuration as outlined on its back panel for use with mono channel output will allow it to drive your center channel speaker from its speaker A output.
