    Hi,

I just wondered off on the web and I noticed you guys are really into Sony.
Perfect coz' I have a question being a Sony "noob".
Someone @ my work is selling a Sony TA-DA 777ES.
It should be 'bout 3 years of age.
I started surfing the web looking for some info 'bout this machine to have some sort of thought 'bout how good it might be or if his selling price (600 €) is fair.
To my dissapointment I can't find anything 'bout that particular machine.
    TA-VA or TA-FA yes but no TA-DA...strange.
Can someone help me...does this type even exist?
It should be an amplifier without receiver...so just amplifier.
That's all I know for this moment.

    Thx in advance

The TA DA777ES sounds like its a Multichannel Receiver sans the Tuner that the STR DA777ES has.

You might check over at TheVintageKnob.org and see if Axel has any information on the TA DA777ES.

It would seem as Maxx has said that it would be that years top of the line Flagship integrated amp.... the 777 designation at that time was "flagship".....as was the STR DA777ES....Guessing...This one would be the same.....Sans Tuner.....Don't think it was marketed in the US....

"Flagship" means the best in your sentence?
    Is 600€ a fair/good price?

Yes...."Flagship" means "Top of the Line".....derrived from Nautical Terms...
Usually used to describe the Biggest, Best, Most Well Equiped Ship in the Fleet......

Sorry I'm not familar with the conversion of US dollar to Euros but the STR DA777ES Receiver might be a gauge of worth......

You could look on e-bay for recently completed auctions of that model to get some idea of what people are paying......

Good Luck....and let us know how it works out.....
We like to hear about all things Sony....

Yes, it means the best Receiver Sony had made up to that point.

Here in the USA the STR DA777ES is selling for about $US350 these
    days.

    keskondisco,

I searched high and low on the internet, but I couldn't find any info at all, on a TA-DA777ES. That is strange for a product that is only 3 years old. It is almost as if that model didn't exist. Are you positive that it isn't the 'VA'?

That would be great. The difference of one little letter can make a huge difference in the function and features of the piece.

One thing you can count on though is that if it is a Sony and it has 777 in the model designation it is an outstanding piece of equipment.

I saw that person today @ work and asked him once again.
Indeed it is the STR DA777ES without the tuner...only releaced in Europe.
The "little one" is three years of age, has a golden look and costed 2600€ at the time.
    That's 'bout 3300 USD.
He's selling it for 600€ or 765 USD.
    Mint condition!
I'm definitely considering of buying it.
    What do you think?
Is this a good price or is there room to bargain?

AFAIK a Champagne Gold TA DA777ES in pristine condition sounds so rare to me that if you like it and can afford it I'd say by all means buy it because another one won't come along soon!

One of our Members sold his Black STR DA777ES last year and soon realized that he had made a huge mistake and it took him months to find a suitable replacement.

Once you get your TA DA777ES you will understand why he couldn't live without his STR DA777ES!

I own the "Other" most highly regarded Sony analog receiver....the STR DA5ES....and I never use the Tuner......I would say buy it for what ever deal you could negotiate.......

The mere fact that it is a champagne model makes it rare in our view....add to that that it is indeed a 777ES.....You will have a winner !!.......
Just not the most up to date in decoding......but a very strong amp section none the less......and it's not too far behind in the decoding prowess......

Very Much a Classic !!!!!......Best of Luck !!

    Steve~
