I have the RM-LP211 remote which I got with my receiver and I dont beleive this is a learning remote but it has buttons on it to control a tv example tv channel .I guess my quetion is what tv will this work with a few select sony tvs or what. My second question is can I ever get it to work with my tv which is a Panisonic PT53W big screen I dont think it is possible but thought I d ask we all know how useless the sony mannuals are I often wonder when or if that might change.

The LP211 is what Sony calls a "programmable" remote which isn't as good as a truly learning one, but should work out for you anyway. The remote is pre-stored with (lots of) remote codes from various manufacturers and I would be ver surprised if it didn't have the ability to control a modern Panasonic TV. The programming is done so that you enter a few-digit code which corresponds to the proper manufacturer (some manufacturers have several codes assigned to them.) I suggest you consult your user manual for the specific procedures of programming it.

    Good luck!

parney- Were you able to program the RM-LP211 to control your Panasonic TV? If not, let us know and I can list the steps for you. I have used that remote and there are many preprogrammed TVs listed as Tiny_Turtle has stated.

well I tried to program it and was somewhat successfull I can now control the volume and change channels of the tv but only using the function and scroll buttons .The buttons on the bottom left hand side of remote that say TV VOL and TV CH will not work for me are they only for use if you are using OSD or what?Another problem Im having is when I hit tuner under function I cant see a sub menu the manual says it should be there so I can select AM or FM and scan for stations so I can preset some.Any help would be great thanks.

    parney-

    1. It sounds like the RM-LP211 mau not be programmed completely for your TV. Have you tried resetting the remote to factory defaults and statring over with the programming?

    2. Check your personal email, I answered your preset stations question there. But here it is again in case you see this post first:

You can preset up to 30 stations, any combination of AM or FM, The programmed stations go sequentially from A1, A2....B1, B2...ETC.... Here are the steps:

    1. rotate the function knob and select TUNER

    2. then tune in the station that you want first

    3. press the MEMORY button (at this point A_ will be flashing)

    4. then press the PRESET TUNING button (the one on the right, now the display will read A1)

    5. now press MEMORY again

    6. just repeat steps 2-5 to program the following stations

parney- Do you mean you have both the remote programmed and the radio stations on your STR-DA4ES preset?
